Le Mandorle, a jewellery design studio based in Hong Kong and founded by Tara Lee in 2021, artfully combines artistry and practicality to create exquisite wearable sculptures. We were tasked with enhancing their online presence through a complete redesign and development of their Shopify website. The previous brutalist design was transformed into a softer, more polished aesthetic that aligns with Le Mandorle's organic product ethos, resulting in a calmer user experience that beautifully frames their jewellery.
The previous website utilised a modified barebones Shopify template that had become inadequate for Le Mandorle's growing requirements. It lacked essential features such as a comprehensive content management system (CMS) and the ability to create editorial landing pages for new collections. To address these challenges while being cost-effective, we opted to build on a pre-existing Shopify boilerplate. This approach not only ensured speed but also offered a high level of customisability and originality.
In redesigning the website, we focused on softening and polishing the overall look to better complement Le Mandorle's product design ethos. The result is a calmer user experience that elevates and frames their stunning jewellery in a modern context. Additionally, we took full advantage of new Shopify features that had previously gone unused. By implementing custom, editable modules using Shopify’s Pages feature, we empowered Le Mandorle to update and launch new landing pages independently. This flexibility allows them to showcase new collections and keep their online presence fresh without relying on external support.
